My older brother, Calvin, and his wife, Angie, were coming home from Moab yesterday morning when Calvin felt something on his arm. He looked down to see a moth, he flicked it off. When he looked back up just seconds later, the road was beginning to turn. He stayed calm, turned the steering will so he would stay on the road. While at that same moment his back end was in gravel and decided to betray him. The simple action of turning the wheels sent he and Angie's back end fish tailing. Calvin then was not able to gain control of the jeep. They ended up rolling three times! The windshield was shattered. Metal was bent. And yet, they both walked away rather untouched! Both have goose eggs on their heads, and a few bruises. Angie's being the worst, she took the brunt of everything. Her right side of her face is swollen and black and blue.
Two of Calvin's friends had gone with he and Angie. Casey was in front of Calvin, while Gary was in back of him. Just as Calvin lost control of his jeep, Casey checked his rear view mirror watching everything. While, Gary being in the back witnessed it too. Imagine watching that happen to your friends! I would freak had I been there!
The crazy thing of it all is this: the two men coming toward all of this as it was taking place. Can you believe they were trained EMT's?! They immediately assessed the situation and went to help. Casey and Gary called for an ambulance in the mean time. Calvin was not bothered about his own condition, he jumped out of the jeep so fast to help aid Ang. She is 13 weeks pregnant. Both very worried about the baby. Calvin told the EMT's and they began to try to find the babies heart beat. Which they could not. They told them this is normal, 13 weeks is about the time when you can hear it externally though sometimes you can't.
The ambulance showed and rushed both Calvin and Angie, to the emergency room with Casey and Gary following. The doctor quickly took an ultrasound of the baby, it was completely fine. It didn't show any signs of stress and sounded healthy. What a relief that would have been! Once done checking the baby, the doctor started on Angie, she being the next vital one. She had blood on her head, once cleaned, it was just a scratch that wouldn't need stitches. Calvin then was given a cat scan because of previous injuries to his neck and ear canal, the doctor thought it best. Calvin was cleared as well.
Now, comes to my point of the hand of the Lord and his Guardian Angels. Calvin's jeep, as said earlier, was TOTALLED. Yet, Calvin, Ang and the baby all walked away with minimal injuries! The Lord has guardian angels all around us. He has his hand in all of our doings! I don't even want to imagine what may or may not have been the out come of this had the Lord not been a part of it! My family was definitely blessed!
